William Edward Bowers

Am new to this site-sometimes back, there was an inquiry about the above name. In my research I came across a William Edward who was married to a Martha (Gilbert) Bowers who had a daughter named Nora Ida Bowers married to a Lee Andrew Alexander. They resided near Seneca/ Easley area. Anyone know anything about them?

Forums:

They had more children but one son that i know of is Charles Edward Alexander, Sr which had many children also, one son is my grandfather David Eugene Alexander. Do you know anything else about William Edward Bowers and where hes from?

Let's follow-up on this. I have been anxious to meet relatives from Virginia. As you are apparently a descendent of Job & Charity Bowers, I am very interested in exchanging information. Here's my lineage: Job >> William >> Asa >> William Edward >> Elbert Gordon, Sr. >> Elbert Gordon, Jr. >> George Robert Bowers. Feel free to contact me any time.

Regards,
Bob

I don't know much about my lineage. I have recently been trying to get as much information about my grandparents and their families before something happens to my grandfather who is 82(David Alexander). I have only gotten as far back as William Edward on his side. I don't know if you would know this Bob, but my great grandmother on my grandmothers side was also from Anderson, South Carolina, her name was Minnie Beatrice Defoor Fendley her husband was Frank J Fendley. That might help connect the two families to make sure. Maybe if you asked questions to some of the older Bowers family members to see if we are connected. Because I don't know that much about the Bowers family.

Asa married Sarah Elizabeth Brown, b. 8 Jan 1822, d. 23 Dec. 1904

How many children did William have? I am a descendant of Joel Bowers - one of William & Polly's sons
Where did Job Bowers b. 1755 in VA parents come from?

I just started to search my roots. I'm a novice at the research. I believe John Harris Bowers was a son of Joel Bowers (parents are William Bowers and Polly Cox) and Elizabeth Harris. He was born in 1836. John Harris married Mary Elizabeth Rice and they had a son name John Martin Bowers. John Martin married Bernice Berrymore (Barryman) and they had William Martin Bowers.....my grandfather. Does anyone have any infomation about this line???

My great grandfather was Leonard Harris Bowers son of John Martin Bowers and brother to William Martin Bowers. I have a great deal of information on this line and would be happy to share it with you. I obtained a lot of this information from a book that my Grandmother gave to me that has been in our family since 1935. The book was written by Peter V. Rice and contains excellent information on the Rice line and some hints at earlier Bowers information. I have a profile on ancestry.com and you are more than welcome to make a connection to my public tree, my user name is the same as it is here foxdevel.

Take Care,

If so, then she had two brothers, one my grandfather, Elbert Gordon Bowers, Sr. and another who I get my first name from, George Washington Bowers. I have a picture of him somewhere. You may have picked up on the fact that my Aunt Nora Bowers Ashley was likely named after her Aunt Nora Ida Bowers Alexander. I'm speculating a little here, but it sure seems likely to me!

I was just at a family reunion Sunday, December 3 in Pickens at Grace United Methodist Church and saw a picture of my Great Grandfather, William Edward Bowers! Sounds like we need to connect. What's more interesting is the fact that my Uncle Bill Bowers (Six Mile, SC)and my Aunt Mildred Bowers Thompson (Greenville, SC)may also be willing and able to share with you some information. My Aunt Nora Bowers Ashley who is 90 is not likely able to assist due to her health circumstances. Feel free to contact me and perhaps we can eventually talk either in person or by phone.

Bob
